Breathedge 2 Loudspeaker Location
The loudspeaker sits wedged between two rocks: a red one on the left and a grey one on the right. Grab it with the grapple hook. You do not need any materials to take it — if you can reach it, you can have it.
It is in the same stretch of the map as the service warmer repairs: the yellow pipe and cold zone area you work through alongside the Foreman, the snowman and the leader's statue.
Spotting it
The red-and-grey rock pairing is the marker. There is nothing else in that area with that colour combination, and the loudspeaker itself is mounted high — which is why people fly straight past it at ground level.
Two habits help:
- Look up. Most of the missable objects in this region are above the route you naturally take.
- Use the grapple early. The interaction here is a grapple pull, not a repair prompt with a material cost, so if you are waiting for a "repair" option to appear you will assume it is the wrong object.
What repairing it does
This is the part worth the detour: a working loudspeaker increases Oxyworm spawns in the area.
Oxyworms are drawn to the music. Once the speaker is running it plays continuously — opera, of all things — and the worms gather around it. Since Oxyworms are the main oxygen top-up in the early and mid game, repairing this speaker effectively builds you an oxygen refill point wherever you are working.
That matters in this specific region because it is where the story keeps you the longest: the service warmer chain, the Foreman, the snowman and the statue are all here, and all of them involve long stretches away from an Air Station.
It is not an achievement
There is no achievement attached to the loudspeaker — the game's 39 achievements contain nothing for it. That explains why achievement-focused guides skip it entirely: it is a purely functional side quest, useful rather than checkable.
It also means nobody is going to remind you it exists. If you want the oxygen, you have to go looking.
Step by step
- Work through the service warmer area along the yellow pipes
- Look up for a red rock on the left, grey rock on the right, with the speaker fixed between them
- Pull it with the grapple hook — no materials required
- Repair and mount it; the music starts immediately
- Oxyworms begin gathering, giving you a repeatable oxygen source in the area
Sources
The location and grapple method here come from direct in-game observation rather than a published guide, and the effect on Oxyworm spawns is corroborated by a recorded Early Access playthrough. At the time of writing no text guide anywhere answers this question — if the details here do not match your build, the build has changed.
Why Oxyworms make this worth the detour
Oxygen is the resource that decides how far you can range, and Oxyworms are the portable part of the supply:
- They fly around in open space and can be collected on the move
- Oxyworm nests sit as odd growths on asteroids; they refill you, run dry, and recover over time
- Air Stations — the blue platforms — are the fixed refills, the first near Babe by the carriage entrance, and you can build your own later
A repaired loudspeaker adds a fourth option: it pulls worms toward wherever you hung it. Because it draws them to a place you chose, it is the only oxygen source in the early game you get to position yourself.
There is also an achievement for collecting 300 Oxyworms over the course of play, so anything that concentrates them shortens that grind considerably.
The area around it
The speaker sits in the busiest side-quest region in Chapter 1. While you are here:
- The Foreman and the service warmer he repairs
- The snowman and the leader's statue, both below the Foreman's warmer
- The heaters that consume light bulbs
Repairing the speaker first is the sensible order — it makes every subsequent trip through this region cheaper in oxygen.
Why no guide covers this
The published guides for Breathedge 2 are organised around achievements, and the loudspeaker has none. Achievement-first coverage misses purely functional side quests entirely, which is how a repair with a real mechanical payoff ends up undocumented while every collectible has three articles about it.
If you are working through the region systematically, the recorded 100% run treats the loudspeaker as one of seventeen Chapter 1 side quests, alongside the antenna repair, the public oxygen station, the playground dolls and the oxygen nests.
