Breathedge 2 Ticket Booth Puzzle
The three knobs go: first one down, second one up, third one right. Set them that way and the machine drops a token.
There is only one correct combination, and the hint for it is written on the building rather than near the knobs, which is why the puzzle looks unsolvable from where you are standing.
Where the hint is
Go around to the back of the Tickets building. Written there is the word "Racket" along with a few arrows. Those arrows are the answer — the knob positions in order.
| Knob | Position |
|---|---|
| First | Down |
| Second | Up |
| Third | Right |
Turn all three and a token drops out of the machine.
Getting to the booth alive
The ticket booth is guarded by an automated turret, and it is not a stealth puzzle — it is a freeze puzzle. The turret reacts to movement: get close and you are told to hold still, and moving while it watches gets you shot.
Work in the gaps between its scans, and if you would rather not deal with it at all, shut it down first: knock out the ceiling control panel, pull the batteries, and cut the yellow cables in two places with the Cutter. Disabled for good, the whole area becomes safe to harvest.
This is the same turret guarding the Service Routes map, so you will be here for the map anyway.
Repairing the booth
The knobs are only half of it. Two repairs turn the booth into something useful:
The sparking side, first:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Metal | 3 |
| Electrical Tape | 2 |
| Electronics | 1 |
Then the console, reached through the office at the back of the building:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Metal | 4 |
| Electrical Tape | 1 |
| Wires | 2 |
| Electronics | 2 |
What you get for it
Three things, and the last one is the reason to bother:
- A token from the knob puzzle. There is a coin slot attachment for the food processor, which is what tokens are for.
- A vending machine appears on the main platform, trading materials for ice, food and water — a resupply point in an area you will keep coming back to.
- The console can shut the turret down permanently. Not just disabled for this visit: off.
That last point is why it is worth doing the booth properly rather than sprinting in for the map. The ticket booth area sits on the route you take repeatedly during the antenna and warmer chain, and a permanent oxygen-and-food stop with nothing shooting at you changes how that stretch plays.
Order of operations
- Deal with the turret — freeze-and-move, or disable it with the Cutter
- Go behind the Tickets building and read the arrows next to "Racket"
- Set the knobs: down, up, right — collect the token
- Repair the sparking side: Metal ×3, Electrical Tape ×2, Electronics ×1
- Enter the office at the back and repair the console: Metal ×4, Electrical Tape ×1, Wires ×2, Electronics ×2
- Use the console to shut the turret off for good
- Pick up the Service Routes map and use the vending machine on your way out
A note on sourcing
No published text guide covers this puzzle in full; the solution and material costs here are from direct in-game observation and a recorded playthrough. If a patch changes the combination, the arrows on the back wall remain the authoritative hint.
The turret, in more detail
It is worth understanding the turret rather than tanking it. The behaviour recorded in play:
- Approaching triggers an on-screen instruction to hold still
- Movement, not visibility, is what makes it fire
- Players who keep swimming take real damage — this is one of the few places in Chapter 1 where you can die to something that is not the environment
So the loop is: freeze while it scans, act in the gap, freeze again. The permanent fix is the console inside the office, which shuts it down for good once repaired.
Why you are here anyway: the Service Routes map
The ticket booth is where the Service Routes map lives, and Sui needs it after the three antennas are repaired. That makes this a story stop rather than optional content — the difference is that most players arrive, grab the map under fire, and leave without solving the knobs or repairing anything.
Once you have the map, head back to the train's phone booth and let Sui finish reprogramming. The map page covers the wider region and the landmarks worth learning.
The token and the coin slot
The token the knob puzzle produces is not decoration. There is a coin slot attachment for the food processor, and the token is what it takes. If you have been wondering what the slot was for, this is the connection — it is easy to find one without the other and assume neither does anything.
Do the booth properly, once
Between the vending machine, the permanently disabled turret and the map, this is one of the highest-value repair jobs in Chapter 1 for the materials it costs. Total outlay across both repairs: Metal ×7, Electrical Tape ×3, Electronics ×3 and Wires ×2 — nothing exotic, and all of it gatherable in the surrounding area. Compare that with the Foreman at Metal ×4 and Electronics ×3 for a single warmer.
