Breathedge 2 Release Date

Breathedge 2 released on August 31, 2026, in Steam Early Access on PC. It is out now, it is not a beta you need an invite for, and there is no separate "full release" date yet — the developers have given a length for Early Access instead of a 1.0 date.

Console players do not have a date at all yet. That part is covered further down.

Launch day and time

The Steam store page and two outlets that ran launch coverage all list August 31, 2026. There is no indication it slipped or changed.

The exact go-live time comes from a launch countdown, so treat the hour as less firm than the date:

TimezoneTime
PDT8:00 am
UTC3:00 pm
CEST5:00 pm

Price and the launch discount

The regular price is $19.99. A 20% launch discount brought it to $15.99, running until September 12, 2026.

If you are reading this later and wondering whether to wait for a sale: the developers have stated in their own Early Access FAQ that the lowest price is the one at the start of Early Access, and that the price goes up as content is added. Waiting for 1.0 means paying more, not less.

How long will Early Access last?

The Steam Early Access FAQ gives a range in the developers' own words: they currently expect roughly 16-20 months in Early Access, with the usual caveat that it depends on development progress, player feedback, and how far the scope grows along the way.

That is a first-party answer, not a community estimate.

When is the 1.0 release?

There is no announced 1.0 date. What exists is arithmetic:

The window above comes from the developers' own 16-20 month estimate; no one has committed to a release date. Treat it as a planning figure, and expect it to move — Early Access ranges usually do.

What is in the launch build?

Review counts and percentages move; the figures above are a snapshot, not a live number. For the story itself, see the walkthrough.

What about PS5, Xbox and Switch?

Short version: PC only for now. Every console listing that exists is a placeholder.

PlatformStatus
PC (Steam)Released, Early Access, August 31, 2026
PlayStation 5Announced, wishlist only — PlayStation's own page says the release date is to be determined
Xbox Series X|S and Xbox OneStore page exists but is not purchasable, and it is not on Game Pass
Nintendo SwitchNo listing and no announcement

Each of those has its own page with the underlying evidence: PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch.

Is there a 2027 release date?

You may run into a claim that Breathedge 2 is coming in 2027. It is not a release date. It comes from a page that had not registered that the game already launched, and the 2027 figure there was a guess about how long an indie sequel would take if it were announced later. It refers to nothing official. Ignore it.

Quick answers

What the launch build actually contains

Early Access here is not a vertical slice. The developers describe the launch version as Chapter 1 of the story plus a large explorable region, with the core systems already in place: survival, exploration, resource gathering, crafting, upgrading, repairing, combat, main and side quests, and NPCs.

In practice that means a complete arc rather than a demo. The story runs from the crashed train through the antenna chain and the Depot to the signal jammer, and it ends on a deliberate sign-off screen rather than trailing away mid-sentence. Side content is substantial too — the recorded completion runs list seventeen side quests and 48 collectibles in this one region.

What is not in yet: later chapters, and the expanded vehicle and building content the developers have talked about for future updates.

Is it worth buying now or waiting?

Two things push in opposite directions, so it depends on what you value:

There is no demo to try first: the Breathedge 2 demo was delisted at launch, and the developers rebuilt the build it came from. That story is on the demo walkthrough page.

Where to buy it

Steam is the only storefront where the game is purchasable. The PlayStation and Xbox pages exist but cannot take money, and there is no Nintendo listing at all. Key resellers advertising console editions are selling something that does not exist.

The game is Windows only — the Steam listing records no Mac or Linux build.
